Umhlanga Beach Mews
This is one of the older and, from the outside, less attractive beach front blocks in Umhlanga. The term 'mews' is misleading - it is a large tower block. It does not, however, have the 'glitzy' family resort feel that many of the other complexes on Lagoon Drive exude. The Beach Mews has direct beach access, a prime location and excellent sea views. The apartments are large, with a TV and are fully serviced. There is a swimming pool, covered parking and also a babysitting service.

Beverly Hills Sun Intercontinental
Probably the premier hotel in the Durban area, the Beverley Hills provides excellent service and facilities. A high-rise block, right on the beach front, this is nevertheless a formal hotel with grand décor and silver service tea (plus pianist). Rooms are fairly small but all have excellent sea views. Umhlanga Rocks Hotel
This is an older hotel, low rise (in dramatic contrast to the enormous blocks along lagoon drive) and reasonably priced. It enjoys private beach access and the 95 rooms are sea-facing.
