Camping des Barolles - Rivet Jean
Located in a wee place about ten kilometers from from the city center of Lyons, this little camp site has no pretentious but is very well situated. A neighbor of the little Beauregard park, it is in the middle of a rural scene which is extremely calm and only a few minutes from the center of St-Genis-Laval. If you decide to go for a walk, go see the Lorette Fort, sadly made famous by the atrocities of Klaus Barbie. From there the view of the valley is magnificent and the surrounding countryside has much charm.

This hotel is in the Vaise quartier, in the north of the town. Relatively far from the centre, it is a fifteen-minute tube ride (or a forty-minute walk for the brave!) to the Place Bellecour. Novotel Lyon La Part-Dieu
Awarded 3 stars and a palm by the tourist office. If you arrive via Part-Dieu station, exit on the side of the Vivier-Merle and look left, you will discover a large brick coloured hotel complex, which is almost like a labyrinth. Two hotels share these buildings one of which is the Mercure, formerly Novotel. The large library is just opposite and it only takes a couple of minutes to get to the principal sectors of the quartier: the commercial centre, the Lyonnaise credit tower, the auditorium etc.

This one-star hotel has recieved the Palme from the Office of Tourism. It's clear that one does not come into this cultural void of Lyon for touristic reasons. Cour des Loges
The hÃ'tel de luxe de la Cour des Loges is made up of several adjacent Gothic and Renaissance houses on the rue du Boeuf dating from the 15th to the 17th century. Most Renaissance houses in Lyons have only one passage linking the buildings together. The Cour des Loges is exceptional in that it has galleries, supported by large pillars, on three sides of the courtyard. Restored at the end of the 80s, it is now covered by a new glass roof. If you can't afford to stay the night in this elegant residence, go to the bar where the remains of a Jeu de Paume game are displayed on the interior walls. The courtyard is represented in a trompe-l'oeil wall painting in the place Fousseret, not far from the hotel.

The Place des Terreaux is nearby and the Gailleton quay will quickly take you to Amont, close to the Croix-Rousse. This is a great place if you love calm and appreciate the charm of little old streets. The establishment is unpretentious and quite satisfactory, with very welcoming staff.

Camping du Grand Large
Only a few minutes from the Miribel-Jonage park (large natural aquatic zone in the North-East of Lyons), this camp ground borders on the Grand Large lake and offers several water sports activities. Even if swimming is evidently the principle activity of the place, remember that you can also have very lovely strolls in the surrounding area as it is particularly wooded and tranquil. 4 stars A few minutes from Vienne town centre, this Â"Relais and ChâteauÂ" is located on the edge of a small square which is extremely peaceful. The national 7 and the motorway are 100 metres away; a better location would be hard to find. This modern building stretches along a large part of the boulevard Fernand Point and, as you might expect in this type of place, its interior is sumptuous, the rooms are enormous , light and luxurious. 4 appartments are also available with one double bed or two small beds. This place is perfect if Lyons is just a stop off point on your holiday.
