Nagoya Plaza Inn
Nagoya Plaza Inn, built in 1974, still attracts many business travelers despite its age, in part because there are various types of rooms available, all of which are affordable. The hotel even provides group rates, so ask if this applies. The price seems particularly reasonable when you consider the hotel's location in the downtown area. One drawback is that the rooms are rather small, though the hotel does try to compensate with nice comforters.

Urushiya
Urushiya is a minshuku, that is, a Japanese-style Bed & Breakfast that is situated next to the deluxe Amagiso ryokan and its wonderful array of baths (which can be used for a small fee). Minshuku are less luxurious, but much cheaper, than regular hotels or ryokan. So if you want to vacation as economically as possible it's a good idea to stay at a minshuku and then pay the nominal admission fees to the Amagiso's fine public baths. Minshuku also offer travelers the chance to talk with the owners and get the 'low down' on the best things to see and do in the area. Many people have had great experiences staying at these family-run inns and have become minshuku 'junkies'. If you're concerned about the language barrier, which is often a problem in Japan, call and ask if they have bilingual staff before making a reservation.

It would be interesting to know the origins of the hotel's name, the reason being that the hotel itself is rather mundane, the prices are about average, the rooms are small, amenities are minimal, and the facilities are nothing notable. Kokuminshukusha Izu Matsuzakiso
Kokuminshukusha Izu Matsuzakiso is a minshuku, that is a Japanese-style Bed & Breakfast. Close by, on the Naka River, is a public outdoor bath that you can avail of. The waters are simple thermal with calcium sulfate and are famous for rejuvenating and beautifying women's skin. Kajiya
Kajiya is a minshuku, that is, a Japanese-style Bed & Breakfast. Minshuku are less luxurious than regular hotels or ryokan, but they are much cheaper. The Odaru Onsen area has many wonderful hotsprings baths which can be used for a small fee. Some of the most popular are the 'bath in the cave' and the outdoor bath adjacent to a waterfall, both at Amagiso. So if you want to vacation as economically as possible it's a good idea to stay at a minshuku, and then pay the nominal admission fees to the area's fine public baths. Minshuku also offer travelers the chance to get to know their Japanese hosts, who are very helpful in telling guests about the best things to see and do in the area. If you're concerned about the language barrier, which is often a problem in Japan, call and ask if they have bilingual staff before making a reservation.
